Developers have done it again...

The days for waiting for the 4.3 Android update is over for those have their Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 rooted. Developers at XDA Developers forum have made a stunning breakthrough in creating a fully working modded TouchWiz rom (Android 4.3). This is unbelievable as most of us would have thought this would be really difficult to mod and perhaps restructure to make it a daily driver for folks with rooted phones.

There are a few TouchWiz roms with Android 4.3 on them since the leak come out for N7100. Since the Note 3 have been rooted, developers have shared apk's from that model around the web for other developers to share the experience perhaps porting to other TouchWiz roms out there. They have managed to integrated those apk's from the Note 3 to the leaked 4.3 Android TouchWiz rom for the N7100.

Here are some screen shots to prove...

Petros_tigra have made it possible us to experience. But like myself I own a N7105. Which means I can't experience this wonderful rom. Samsung needs let the N7105 users experience the goodness of Android 4.3. The wait is too long and users of the N7105 feels that they don't have anything to look forward to.

Personally I feel Samsung needs to wake up and get the release done. Not all of us can afford a Note 3 with all the new features. Most of us have spend allot to get our hands on the Note 2 last year.

Just to note something. Last week I rooted my N7105 and managed to flash a stock leak Android 4.3 on my N7105 which is originally intended for the N7100 it was designed for. Everything worked I was amazed but I couldn't use it as a daily rom due to no SIMcard or GSM network detection and no S-Pen detection when want to use the pen on the screen.

If you want to check out more of roms like these visit

The wait for Android 4.3

Recently the new operating system update for Android has appeared on top brand devices and it looks promising. With only a few improvements Android users will find that the new version has improved the Bluetooth system libraries and Wi-Fi option that allows users to experience their apps that request locations, will request from the Wi-Fi of the phone or tablet even when Wi-Fi is turned off.

The system apps that users use on a daily base like the phone and messenger app been improved.  With users using custom dial codes based on their location can add pauses and waits now. In the Settings application, you can now enable dial-pad auto-complete and change DTMF (dual-tone, multi-frequency) tone lengths.

The most interested app probability would be the camera. With the menu now fixed next to the capture onscreen button, some users reported it is more user friendly. With settings again, long, multi-word SSID names now wrap properly down to a second line in the quick-settings pull down.
When you take a screenshot and share it via email, the Subject field is automatically populated with the date and time of the shot which could be a big plus for developers that work in teams across long distances that are working on there prototypes.

Some things we could expect with the Galaxy phones...

With Samsung announcing that the Galaxy Note 2 N7100 and N7105 will skip update 4.2.2, users may sound impatient about it. This states that Android 4.3 or 5 (Key Lime-Pie) will be introduced. Personally I think that Samsung should consider only 5 because users like myself have waited a long time to get a new OS update for the Galaxy Note 2 N7105. Not to be rude or anything, but I have made my statements before considering that Samsung Customers sound very unhappy about the long wait. Some have specified that it really shouldn't take Samsung so long to pull out the update since they already have made a S4 model run the stock Android 4.3. I agree on this...

But we have to consider the fact that a leak appread stating that the Galaxy phones will get a 4.3 update. Hopefully with a brand new UI and better TouchWiz launcher.

As a developer myself I have been tempted to root my devices and flash custom roms to see a new OS that wasn't available for those devices. Due to fact I have flashed my Galaxy Note 2 N7105 with a custom android 4.2.2. I have to say it work beautifully but as a developer and student I need to present my designed apps on a monitor or projector which I use a MHL cable. This only worked on the original Samsung Stock rom, which made me unhappy. That was the only drawback I had about the custom roms. Lucky I unrooted my device and have my warranty again. For those who are tempted to root, DON'T! Wait for the updates rather...

Samsung's Osborne Effect?

Today I want to share to you perhaps what other internet viewers have experience over the last few weeks. As mentioned in my previous post about the frustration one must have if you are the owner of a Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 / or (N7105).

Maybe we have good news and perhaps not. We all had a good look at the leaked update of the S3 and features seems pretty damn awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieP_6CpSGdk

The above address will illustrate these features. Those owning a Note 2 can only hope for at least the same. On http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/ it is stated that tweets and emails about the update is very soon. I know "very soon" is not an exact date but wait...

"Others continue “Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is expected to see the latest Android 4.2.2 official update by the end of June”, and others agree with this explaining that the update should arrive “OTA next week, when HTC One will get the release of Jelly Bean 4.2.2 around June 16″."

So this is what was stated on their website on the 8th of this month. Pretty awesome to hear indeed :D So by the 16th we all could have happy faces to show off once more. So clearly I don't see what is the hold here...

I think all of us could agree that Samsung has met the deadline for the update and by some dumb reason is holding until a certain date for the update release.

This equals unhappy customers...!!

Just saying hey?!

Customers spend allot of hard earned cash on these products and I highly doubt it's for once off expected no updates...

I only got my Note 2 (N7105) the other day and I don't want to root it and lose warranty. Most you would feel the same way.

I know as a developer sometimes my hands wants to get dirty by rooting the phone and see what else I can do with it. From other experiences I know sometimes custom roms could mess up your battery life. I attend not to lose that on the N7105 because the phone's standby is best out there.

I ask of you guys out there in the world, pray everyday for the update to come and bring awesomeness to our phones.

Peace out!

Awaiting The Galaxy Note 2 N7100 and N7105 leak or official update to Android 4.2.2

I guess everyone knows this story about your favourite smartphone. I can't believe Samsung is holding out on us again. The update for the Galaxy S3 has already been leak out. Lucky for those having a S3. The rest of us have to wait. I'm actually done waiting. Fed up I would say.
It's been weeks since the tweet announcement was made about the updates. Even Key Lime Pie seemed to be an option at the time. But seriously since the leak update for the S3 was revealed 2 weeks ago. Why haven't someone even got hold of the leak for N7100 and N7105. I hope since N7105 is not quite everybody's phone it would still be considered in the future.
I bought the Galaxy Note 2 N7105 with enabled LTE because it seem good to have prepared for end of the this year when South Africa would be fully equipped setting up and done testing LTE.
It would be a real shame if an awesome phone like this is left out of the updates stream. Especially since I spend thousands of Rands to get hold of it. So please Samsung if you guys see this post, don't make wait any longer...
